Life is what happens while you are making other plans…

I have not even started the Te Araroa and it already showed me who the boss is.

As I wrote in the last post, for me good planing means to have a framework and then be flexible to circumstances. One of them happened today: I was supposed to take a ferry across the Cook around 9:00 with a connecting ferry on the same day and then a 5km hike to my first campground.

All well planed and thought through, but the weather had a little giggle, which led to strong winds and a four hour delay of my ferry…so no connecting ferry to my starting point.

That is the bad news, the good news is that that gives me ample time to buy a new stove because for whatever stupid reason mine is locked up in the self storage in Auckland that I use for my baggage surplus…

So there is always something good to these hick-ups.

I’ll keep you updated, if possible while hiking
