Better safe than sorry…

I am back in Berlin… since the 1st of August… until I fly to Japan on the 31st of August. Why?

That my plans would be in constant flux was a given from the beginning; I was just surprised how fast that would happen.

I was on my fifth day of hiking the Kungsleden and decided to tackle 21km, which was exhausting but no problem at all. Nature was amazing, the weather perfect, and besides a very steep descent to the hut I would stay at, just perfect. I had found my hiking flow.

The next day would start with a boat trip, and that evening I was looking forward to having the chance to use the sauna to clean myself at least a little bit. To make a long story short, I slipped in the sauna, hit my head and sprained one of my fingers so much so that it still hurts.

It was not a concussion, though after one day in digital land, I would have been on my own in pure wilderness again, but that just didn’t feel right. Making the decision was really tough for me.

So I took a night train back to Stockholm and via Malmö, Kopenhagen, Heiligenhafen (the upside was that I could see my best friend on the way home), and arrived back home after 48h.

Got an appointment last Monday with my GP and everything is fine. Except that I am still a bit unbalanced, but nothing that a session with my osteopath won’t fix.

At the moment I just chill, visit museums, quilt and read. Perhaps that is what I should have done from the start 😉

The Kungsleden is still there next year or the year after, and I am ok with the “adult” decision, there is enough space and time to be silly and impulsive in the future while I hike my own hike.
